Faisalabad: Faisalabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Ali on Tuesday (March 10) inaugurated the city’s first urban forest in Chak 235 RB Niamuana — with 22,000 tree saplings being planted at the site in a single day, a news source reported.

Several notable officials were also present during the ceremony, including Parks and Horticulture Chairman Asif Chaudhary, Faisalabad Additional Deputy Commissioner Fazal Rabi Cheema, and Assistant Commissioner Syed Ayub Bukhari.
Speaking at the occasion, DC Ali appreciated the efforts of the PHA and the members of the Chenab Clubs for setting up the urban forest. He ordered the staff concerned to take care of the newly planted saplings. He further said that the Faisalabad’s urban forest would help bring down the levels of environment pollution.

Additionally, the DC announced that new parks would be set up in the city. The authorities concerned would ensure that all urban forests in the city receive the proper care they required in order to nurture and grow, he added. Moreover, the Chenab Club secretary said that the club would continue to provide assistance in the attempts to make Faisalabad clean and green — under the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
