Faisalabad: Punjab Minister for Industries and Trades Mian Aslam Iqbal has announced to set up a 200-acre cotton weaving city, a news source reported. This initiative will help to rehabilitate and promote the local power looms industry.
The provincial minister shared this information while speaking to a delegation of the Cotton Power Looms Association. He remarked that the Government of Punjab had formed incredible schemes for the promotion of small industries.

The planned weaving city project will serve as a home base for Faisalabad’s power looms setup – set for development in two phases. In the first phase, power looms will be shifted to the 100-acres facility. The remaining equipment will be shifted in the second phase.

Minister Iqbal also said that the government will offer its full support to upgrade the power looms sector in the city. He further expressed his resolve for protecting the sector, as it provides employment to thousands of people.

Sharing further details on the planned city, Iqbal said that each plot in the weaving city will be reserved for power looms installation. To ensure that this is so, the government will cancel any allotments for plots intended for other purposes.
