Faisalabad: The Punjab government has announced its intention to establish an overseas Pakistanis cell in a bid to facilitate expatriates hailing from Faisalabad, a news source reported. As per officials, the Punjab Additional Chief Secretary will preside over a conference on September 30 to formalise a plan to this effect.

The purpose behind the formation of this cell is to address property-related problems faced by these individuals. Reportedly, their properties in Faisalabad remain under illegal possession; with the matter pending with the local police authorities for the past several years.

The cell will comprise a judge and an officer equivalent to the rank of Superintendent of Police, while Overseas Pakistani Commission chairman will head it. Other members include a deputy chairman, a central police officer and an additional deputy commissioner (revenue). The panel will process the cases forwarded by the police and solve them on a priority basis.
