Faisalabad: Divisional Commissioner Faisalabad Saqib Manan on Monday (August 30) announced that the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will fund a wastewater treatment plant in Faisalabad, news sources reported.

The PKR 20 billion wastewater treatment plant initiative will solve the industrial city’s growing environmental concerns. According to WASA’s Managing Director Jabbar Anwar, the multi-billion rupee project will be completed in four stages, including the establishment of plant beautification of city and horticulture, capacity building of officials and employees, and environmental protection.

The project is considered as a step forward towards treating the problems of the city that has seen an increase in population mainly due to urban migration. Furthermore, in response to public complaints about WASA services, officials stated that in order to receive better services, it is critical to pay the services fee.
