Faisalabad: District Administration of Faisalabad formed a world record of planting 100,000 saplings simultaneously under the auspices of Prime Minister’s 10 Billion Tree Initiative, according to news published on August 28.

Under this programme, 20,000 trees were planted in City and Sadr tehsil. At the same time, 16,000 saplings were planted in every tehsil of the districts including Tandlianwala, Samundri, Jaranwala, and Chak Jhumra.
The City and Sadr ceremony was held at Kaleem Shaheed Park, Narwala Road. During the ceremony, Commissioner Saqib Manan, Punjab Minister for Colonies and Culture Mian Khayal Ahmad Kastro, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali, parliamentarians Latif Nazar and SH Khurram Shahzad planted the saplings along with students and other officers.

While acknowledging the efforts of the district administration, the provincial minister stated that this programme was the need of the hour. The DC Muhammad Ali mentioned that Faisalabad was the first city where tree plantation was carried in all the tehsils at the same time.
