Faisalabad: Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Director General (DG) Muhammad Suhail Khawaja on Wednesday revealed that the city’s Master Plan (2020-2040) is all set for implementation next year – after the authority gives it some final touches (expected within a timeframe of six weeks), according to news sources.

Khawaja revealed this after meeting with the consultants working on the preparation of the city’s masterplan. He said that necessary data and the requirements for additional development had been collected, and consultation with the stakeholders will be soon be initiated to finalise the comprehensive plan.
The director general further said that Faisalabad, being the third largest city of Pakistan, requires a sustainable and strong management system to reach advanced development and the masterplan is aimed at providing the foundation for this development. He revealed that Faisalabad’s masterplan is labelled ‘city for all’, under which the socioeconomic opportunities and employment generation has attained special attention.

Moreover, he said that the masterplan will involve strategies for development of commercial, industrial, economic, agricultural sectors. He also said that the creation of roads network, energy, transportation, waste management, sanitation, landscaping and other infrastructure will be developed by devising rules for the use of land.
Furthermore, the city’s plan will encompass zoning facilities to promote the business community for the multi-dimensional development of many sectors.
