Faisalabad: The Faisalabad District Development Committee on Wednesday (December 29) approved PKR 470 million for various development schemes in the district, news sources reported. The budgeted amount will be used for 47 civic and road infrastructure development projects.

According to reports, the approved fund has been released for use by the Local Government (LG), Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), and Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) on public interest projects. The LG and Community Development will complete a significant portion of the 41 schemes. WASA has also been assigned funds for repair and maintenance of rural drainage systems, rehabilitation of the sewage system, installation of water filtration plants, and other projects.

While funds for the remaining programmes have been authorised for the FDA, three District Health Authority building schemes, one PHA scheme, and other highway projects. Earlier in October this year, Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht said that the government is spending PKR 13 billion under the Faisalabad District Development Programme.
