Karachi: Sindh Judicial Magistrate West has ordered the local police station to arrest as many as 16 factory owners on account of causing sea and air pollution, reported a news source. The arrested owners are to be presented before the court.
During the hearing of the case on Monday, the investigation officer revealed that during a surprise visit paid by officers of Sindh Environment Protection Agency to the site of textile, stone crushing and dyeing factories, it was found out that the factory owners had made no arrangements to control the pollution.
The initial order for installation of treatment plants to curb pollution was issued a while ago to the factory owners, who had paid no heed to it.
