Lahore: The Punjab government has made it mandatory for industrial units to submit their tax returns under a self-assessment scheme, a news source reported. To facilitate this measure, Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar recently abolished a policy concerned with the inspection of factories in the province.

He said that the provincial government would provide online registration facilities to the industries concerned. He also directed the officials concerned to finalise the process of online registrations on an immediate basis. He added that the executive would carry out an industrial zoning process in Punjab, and set up an implementation committee for this purpose.

Moreover, the CM explained that this committee would submit comprehensive recommendations for industrial zoning in the province. He added that the purpose to abolish the inspection process was to facilitate the industrialists, besides promoting the ease-of-doing-business initiative in the province. He said that this measure would speed up the industrialisation process, and help create new investment and employment opportunities.
