Rawalpindi: The government on Thursday sought suggestions regarding the establishment of an industrial zone and a housing society along the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) – a news source reported.
Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Raja Basharat expressed his views on the matter. He was speaking to a delegation of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI). It included Sohail Altaf, Najam Rehan, Asad Mushahdy, Sheikh Hafeez, and Saqib Rafique.

The minister said that local traders have been allowed to relocate their wholesale markets. He added that projects under a public-private partnership framework will be established in the proposed industrial zone.
Meanwhile, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has sought details of RRR’s master plan. The international lender has also requested information on the land acquired for the project. AIIB will provide PKR 47 billion for the initiative.

The Punjab government previously sanctioned PKR 90.975 million for the project’s developmental feasibility. The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has yet to devise the master plan and acquire land.
