Multan: Residents of the impoverished Cholistan region have expressed concerns on large number of deaths in the region due to drought – a news source reported. They have requested the government to address the issue of water scarcity.

Zahoor Dhareja, president of the Saraiki Council and Cholistan representative Khursheed Anjam expressed their views on the matter. They stressed the need to solve the issues being faced by the residents of the region on a priority basis.
They lamented that Cholistan Desert Rally has not benefitted the locals in any way. Instead, the rally is being used as a means to promote vested interests.

They said that no conference or meeting has taken place on the sidelines of the event for the last 15 years. Moreover, the authorities concerned have yet to take measures to promote local trade and industry.
