Rawalpindi: A proposal to expand Rawalpindi Cantt’s Commercial Zoning Plan is currently under consideration, a news source reported. As per the publication, the purpose behind this expansion is to include additional parts of the cantonment area in to the commercial zone.

In this regard, the focus is being directed particularly in areas where commercial activities are being carried out in residential units. Sources claim that the Rawalpindi Chaklala Cantonment administration has already prepared a list of all such areas and residential units being used for commercial reasons.

It has also been decided that legal action will be taken against property owners whose residential units are being used illegally for commercial purposes. The expansion in commercial zoning plan is expected to benefit many areas in Chaklala Cantt that are home to illegal commercial activities.

In addition to regularization of illegal property use, the expansion in the zoning plan will also help the cantt administration make good revenue in terms of commercialisation fees.
