The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment & Trade and Tourism Corporation has invited expression of interest for pre-qualification of investors to build a tourism resort at Takht Bahi Archaeological Remains. The applications have to be submitted latest by April 30, 2015.
The shift of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government towards making the province a role model for the rest of the country to follow is being felt. This most recent step is a show of the government’s commitment to reviving tourism in the province. This particular tourism resort would be an international standard facility at the Buddhist remains, giving tourists another reason to come explore the site, which has immense historical value.
According to an advertisement in local newspapers, the resort will have chalet-type hotels and restaurants that will blend in with the local heritage as well as Buddhist architecture. The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also plans to create a visual tour theatre as part of this project along with an art gallery, art and craft shops and a meditation centre for Buddhists.
The resort will feature a health club that will also provide emergency medical facilities. In addition to that, it will also offer hill climbing facilities, a recreational park and a spacious car parking. Moreover, the tourism resort will have rest houses, tuck shops, restaurants and a backup power generation setup.
The company/investors who will qualify for the tender will be provided with 7 acres of land by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on lease for 30 years. The lease period is expendable. The KP government will provide NOCs from the departments concerned to make sure that this tourism resort runs as smoothly as this important site deserves, and operates as vigilantly as the government intends.
