Karachi: Several expert town planners and architects have recommended that a new master plan for Karachi should be drafted, according to a news source. They stated that this move would turn the provincial capital into a beautiful and sustainable metropolis.

They also emphasised on the fact that public transport is needed in a city of this magnitude, and Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) must be revived. They made these recommendations at a conference called ‘Transforming Karachi’. This conference was presided over by provincial Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah.

Important technocrats related to the infrastructural development of Karachi were also present at this conference. They reiterated that not only should the old glory of Karachi be revived, but anyone affected by these changes should also be compensated. They also highlighted that the cultural heritage of the city must be preserved and promoted.
The experts also recommended that public amenities such as parks and playgrounds, must be restored. These suggestions were all welcomed by Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, who said they would help improve the infrastructure of Karachi.
