Rawalpindi: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan, at the inauguration of Rawalpindi Ring Road, had directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to speed up the work on the Leh Expressway and Flood Channel project, according to news published on Thursday (March 24).

As per the details, the PM ordered to expedite work at the request of Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed. A senior RDA official (whose name was not disclosed) mentioned that the provincial government wanted to start an Urban Regeneration project along the Nullah Leh.
Under this initiative, the government aims to establish economic zones alongside the nullah. The authority will soon submit the feasibility study for the project. According to the RDA official, the project will help make Rawalpindi a model city by improving the outlook of congested roads and streets. The authority will also invite investors to develop commercial buildings in the area.

Moreover, the RDA will soon start construction work on the Kutchery Chowk remodelling project. As per the RDA official, the Nespak — consultant of Kutchery Chowk — will soon finalise the technical design of the project. The government has already approved the project at the total cost of PKR 4.879 billion. It was disclosed that PKR 3.994 billion will be spent on the construction of the Kutchery Chowk and PKR 135 million for shifting services like gas, electricity, and telephone lines.
