Lahore: To reduce traffic load the on city’s entry and exit points, Mohlanwal Road is to be expanded, reported a news source. The decision has been taken on the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar. In addition to expansion, these roads will also be beautified.

National Highway Authority (NHA), Motorway Police, and Lahore development Authority (LDA) will work to ease up traffic flow on these points. In this regard, Federal Transport Minister Murad Saeed has formed a special committee. Reportedly, LDA has also launched its ‘traffic count’ survey to start alongside the expansion project.

For expansion of Mohlanwal Road from Thokar to Hudiara Drain, NHA will receive PKR 10 billion. The project is expected to be completed in six months’ time. Furthermore, traffic management options are being considered for Shahkam Chowk’s expansion, said LDA Chief Engineer Muzhar Hussain Khan. While work pending on Shaukat Khanum Flyover will be completed by the end of this month, he added.

LDA also has major plans for the housing societies it manages. According to LDA Director General Amna Imran Khan, a cricket stadium will be built in Jubilee Town. In addition, construction of two mosques will start in LDA Avenue-I soon. DG Khan also said that an online system for facilitating quick map approvals will be launched soon.
