Rawalpindi: Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has released funds worth PKR 16.7 billion for the widening of Kahuta-Kak Pull Road into a dual carriageway and the construction of an overhead bridge on Sihala Road, reported a news source. Abbasi is expected to lay the foundation stone for the project soon.
The 28-kilometre Kahuta-Kak Pul Road is currently a single-lane road, which is to be expanded to two lanes, each having a width of 45 feet. The tender for the project has been awarded to the National Highway Authority (NHA). Expansion of the road will, reportedly, benefit over 1 million people using the route on a regular basis.
