Faisalabad: Work on the expansion and upgradation of the Faisalabad International Airport has been completed by 90%, a news source quoted the Aviation Advisor to the Prime Minister, Sardar Mahtab Ahmed Khan. This is the first phase of the project which involves the upgradation of five major airport facilities across the country – namely Faisalabad, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Quetta.
The expansion of the Faisalabad Airport is estimated to cost PKR 1.3 billion. The airport will be completely operational by January 2018. Khan said that the upgradation of the facility is being carried out according to international standards, where passengers will be offered all the modern facilities. The project has been designed systematically to meet traffic needs for the next five to seven years. Once completed, the Faisalabad Airport will be at par with the rest of the airports in all major metropolises of the country, according to Khan.
