Rawalpindi: The Punjab Private-Public Partnership Authority (PPPPA) has approved to reassign the executive agency role to the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) for the development of the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project, according to a news source. The formal decision in this regard was taken in a meeting held yesterday (July 7) with Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Ahmed Khan Buzdar in the chair.

Earlier in March this year, the Punjab Government decided to hand over the RRR project to the Lahore Ring Road Authority (LRRA). For this purpose, the LRRA had set up a project management unit at the Commissioner’s Office and asked the RDA to hand over all documents related to the RRR project.
Later in April, the Punjab government suspended the LRRA from taking charge of the ring road project; stating that the decision was based on the amendments that were underway at that time in the LRRA Act.

With RDA once again becoming the project’s executive agency, it is expected that positive developments will take place with regard to the formation of RRR’s PC-I. During the meeting held to formally approve the decision, Punjab CM was briefed that Section 4 notification for land acquisition has already been issued, while issuance of other related notification is still awaited.
