Lahore: The Excise & Taxation staff is going to conduct a property survey in Punjab instead of the previous decision to have property surveys conducted through third-party surveyors – a news source reported.
The Excise & Taxation Secretary has ordered all the directors to launch these surveys. These are meant to the increase property tax recovery and bring new properties in the tax net.
Concerns have been raised from some quarters that in this case, the surveys will again be conducted by the same staff members who had conducted it previously.
The preliminary process for the surveys, however, has already begun, and the funds required for it will be launched soon. The Standards of Procedure (SOPs) have also been prepared for the purpose.
According to Excise Director General Zahid Hussain, third-party surveys required more funds, however, the SOPs have been drafted in such a way as to ensure effective results.
