Karachi: The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department (ETNCD) has granted a one-month extension to property tax defaulters in the province, a news sources reported. As per the announcement made by the Excise Department, the previous deadline of December 31 has now been extended to January 31, 2020.

The decision was taken in a meeting presided over by ETNCD Secretary Abdul Haleem Sheikh. Senior officials from the department were also present at the occasion. Addressing the meeting members, the ETNCD secretary said that the extension had been granted to facilitate the taxpayers. He also advised the defaulters to be responsible citizens and clear their property tax dues during the given deadline.

The meeting members also agreed that those failing to clear their pending dues would not only face legal actions, but also be required to pay an extra 10% of the due tax in terms of penalty.
