Lahore: The Punjab Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has launched a crackdown against property tax defaulters in the province, according to a publication. For this purpose, the authority has set up special teams.

The E&T has asked tax defaulters to pay their any branch of the State Bank or the National Bank of Pakistan. In case of noncompliance, the authorities can attach defaulter’s property, issue arrest warrants and/or impose heavy fines.

Meanwhile, Excise Director General has already launched the crackdown against the defaulters, while arrest warrants for 1,000 offenders have also been procured. Relevant office will start dispatching the tax notices and issue warrants from March 25 onwards.
Reportedly, the notices will give certain deadline for clearing the taxes before taking further actions. For Lahore, 24 teams have been formed dealing with the related tasks in all zones. Excise Lahore will impose 100% of the due tax as fine on the defaulters while arrests will also be made, starting from next week.
