Rawalpindi: Excise & Taxation Office will begin taking steps for collection of property taxes in Rawalpindi after the authorities decided to step up the efforts for collection that had been on pause due to the coronavirus pandemic – a news source reported on January 22. Now the excise offices will also begin imposing fines and 1% surcharge on the non-payment of property taxes.

According to the details, previously the excise officials had decided not to take stringent steps for collection of property taxes in order to facilitate the public. However, now that the impact of coronavirus pandemic is declining, the authorities have decided to begin taking positive steps for collection of revenue.

As a part of these efforts, Excise & Taxation Officer Aurangzeb Khan has imposed tax surcharge on 500 defaulters who will also be issued notices warning them of arrest in case of non-compliance. Meanwhile, arrest warrants have been issued for another 150 individuals.
