Lahore: The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department of the Punjab government has introduced a property tax self-assessment portal to facilitate the 1.9 million property taxpayers of the province – a news source reported.

The portal has been created in collaboration with The Punjab Urban Unit (USPMU) and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). It will equip users with the facility of automated tax assessments and enable taxpayers to report system issues as well as edit or update their data and file complaints.
The website has been developed as a part of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar’s Digitalisation Policy. It will enable users to utilise it for up to five properties under their name.

Moreover, the website also contains the data and photos of more than 4 million properties surveyed by the Excise and USPMU authorities. Out of this, the owners of 1.9 million properties are required to pay taxes, while the remaining 21 million are mostly 5-marla homes and have been given tax rebates or discounts by the provincial government.
The users will be able to view and revise their property records, including addition or removal of tenants, as well as upload relevant photos and documents, using the login credentials provided at the time of registration.
Any applications made through the portal will go to the relevant tax circle inspector but the concerned Excise and Taxation Office will also be kept informed of the progress.
After the officials have reviewed the application, they will reply to the officials’ registered email; who will then be able to fill or update their property details in the tax return (PT-04) via the portal’s automated self-assessment system.
