Islamabad: The European Union and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) have announced a 40 million euros package for water schemes in Balochistan – a news source reported.
An international delegation shared these views during a meeting with Malik Amin Aslam, the prime minister’s adviser on climate change. The delegation comprised EU Ambassador Jean-Francois Cautaian and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Country Representative Mahmood Akhtar Cheema.

The funds will be utilised to construct several water reservoirs in the province. International experts will also initiate a community awareness programme. Moreover, the latest farming and irrigation methods will be introduced.
Cheema said that IUCN is already funding several water conservation projects and community awareness programmes in Pakistan. He said that the projects will go a long way towards building various sectors of the economy. To this end, the adviser lauded the international delegation’s support for Pakistan.

He also apprised the visitors about the ‘Recharge Pakistan Project’. This initiative is aimed at the efficient utilisation of flood water.
