Gilgit: The European Union (EU) has approved the grant of PKR 7.86 billion for climate-resilient and sustainable projects in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Chitral, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), according to news published on January 11.

As per the details, the grant will be used for building energy projects. The GB chief secretary’s office released a statement stating the said projects will eliminate the sufferings of the people, who are at the forefront bearing the impact of global warming and climate change.

GB Chief Secretary Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani was grateful to the EU for supporting the GB government in tiring times. He vowed to complete the projects within a stipulated time in collaboration with implementation partners. The chief secretary highlighted that quality will not be compromised and the process will transparent. He also added that the provincial government will continue its efforts to protect the environment and improve health and education infrastructure in the region.
