Mansehra: The European Union (EU) has agreed to finance setting up a ski resort and other major projects to promote tourism in Kaghan Valley, according to news published in leading newspapers on May 6.

The news source mentioned that the Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) met an EU delegation and during this meeting, the authority put forward five projects before the delegation of the EU and Austrian Embassy in order to seek financial assistance for the implementation of the projects. The foreign delegations showed interest in establishing a skiing resort and installing a cable car cum chairlift in the valley. The meeting also discussed the areas of interest that will uplift the local living standards and open the hospitality industry for foreign visitors in Kaghan.

The news source mentioned that the EU delegation and Austrian ambassador showed keen interest in producing electricity for the business community of Naran by installing mega turbines at Kunhar River. The KDA also has plans to link the scenic Spat Valley of upper Kohistan with Kaghan through a road in the Soach area. The delegation also showed interest in setting up a training institute to equip local hoteliers and human resources of the hospitality industry.
