Islamabad: A delegation of the European Union (EU) praised the Clean & Green Pakistan programme and offered to extend collaboration on related initiatives in a meeting on Tuesday with Adviser to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam, a news source reported. The Deputy Head of Mission Anner Marchal led the EU delegation.

The two sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the matters of green economic recovery. The discussions included investments, green job creations, environmental sustainability, climate change, forest management, air pollution, water conservation and boosting Pakistan’s climate resilience in the face of climate-change related natural disasters.

Marchal expressed the desire of EU countries to invest in ‘green sectors’, while Aslam welcomed the EU’s interest in Pakistan’s Clean & Green programme.
On the occasion, the PM’s advisor informed the delegation about various initiatives taken by the incumbent government under the umbrella of the ‘Clean & Green Pakistan’ including its recent ‘Protected Area Initiative’. The initiatives aims to increase Pakistan’s protected area from 13% to 15%.
