As per details, this aid aims to address the urgent needs of the most vulnerable communities in some of the hardest-hit areas, including Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh, according to a press release issued on Thursday.
The head of the EU’s humanitarian programmes in Pakistan Taheeni Thammannagoda expressed the EU’s deep sympathy, stating, “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the people of Pakistan for the lives lost in these devastating monsoon rains. These extreme conditions have once again tested the resilience of communities across the country.”
She further emphasised that the EU has swiftly allocated funds to ensure its humanitarian partners on the ground can provide vital, lifesaving assistance to affected families.

The funds will be distributed through two key organizations: the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). The emergency response will focus on multi-sectoral assistance, providing essential support such as clean water and sanitation, temporary shelter, and critical relief supplies.
This latest contribution builds on the EUR 11 million that the EU has already provided in 2024 for humanitarian aid and disaster preparedness in Pakistan
