According to reports, the ETNCD has decided to send the tax assessment with the challans to make the property tax system more transparent and to address residents’ grievances. According to excise authorities, property owners can know about their taxation amount from the assessment notification and whether their property is classified as ‘commercial’ or ‘residential’. In case of the wrong categorization, the citizens can contact the appropriate agency and resolve it.

It is worth noting that the ETNCD collected PKR 12 billion in property tax last year, but the agency has upped the objective for the current fiscal year to PKR 18 billion. This is why the authority has chosen to amend the records and collect taxes as per the new classification.
