Rawalpindi: Excise & Taxation Department Rawalpindi has launched a survey to curb property tax evasion in the city and a 12-member audit team has also begun working in Rawalpindi region to uncover such malpractices – a news source reported on November 18. The survey will be conducted on circle level throughout the city.

According to details, Excise & Taxation Punjab Director General (DG) Saleha Saeed had received complaints that a large number of properties located in Lahore, Gujranwala and Rawalpindi regions have not been brought into the property tax net due to complicity of excise staff. There have also been complaints that some of the properties have taxed below their actual value.

The DG issued the instructions for the survey and formed the audit based on these reports. The teams will survey and identify such properties and report back to the director general.
