Lahore: The Excise & Taxation (E&T) Department is preparing a strategy to recover luxury and property taxes from tax evaders in the provincial capital by attaching their movable and immovable properties, a news source reported.
Currently, Luxury Tax is applied on luxury homes sized 2 kanals or more. In the first phase, the evaders will be fined. The authorities have sent notices with final warning and given a deadline of April 15, 2019.

Similarly, notices have been sent to 11,000 people who have not paid their property taxes in Lahore’s Region B.
Director Excise Rao Shakeel-ur-Rehman has formed 22 teams for the recovery of taxes. The teams have been instructed to begin recovery of dues after the deadline. They will be able to attach properties under Land Revenue Act 1967.

The E&T Department has also issued notices to more than 8,000 renters of the properties evading taxes instructing them to submit their dues in a timely manner.
