Multan: The Punjab Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control (E&T) Department has collected a total of PKR 430 million out of the PKR 675 million property tax target set for Multan during (fiscal year) FY20-21, a news source reported on December 3.

Briefing the media, E&T Deputy Director Khalid Hussain Qasoor stated that the offer of 5% rebate had ended and wold now only be available for payment of taxes through the e-payment system.
He added that there were a total of 155,000 property tax payers in the Multan district, of which nearly 50% had paid their taxes so far. He further stated the authorities concerned had not initiated any crackdowns to recover taxes in order to provide relief to the public amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and that only the routine collection of property tax had been underway in recent months. However, he stated that beginning from December, the authorities would be speeding up their tax collection efforts — with specialized teams to be formed for this purpose.

Furthermore, excise inspectors are also expected to initiate a survey in order to expand the area’s property tax net.
