Lahore: A delegation representing the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) met with Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqwi at his office to discuss challenges faced by the construction industry, a news source reported on May 29.

The delegation included Gohar Ijaz, Sheraz J Maoo, Engineer Akbar Sheikh, Hafiz Muhammad Nauman, and Ayub Sabir Izhar. Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Randhawa, who is also director general of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) was present in the meeting.
According to details, the delegation proposed solutions for promotion of the real estate and construction sector, to which Naqvi said that he would enforce actionable proposals to support the sector. In the same meeting, it was decided that building laws will be reviewed in consultation with the expert from the construction industry.

Reportedly, Naqvi has directed the LDA and related institutions to focus on making building bylaws more accessible to the public. In this regard, a committee was formed to gather the input from the stakeholders and finalise its recommendations. The committee is being led by Randhawa.
The meeting members discussed the proposal of establishing Residential Management Committees in Punjab in private housing societies.
