Sialkot: Board of Investment (BoI) Chairman Zubair Gilani on Thursday announced the government’s intention to build an expo centre facility in the city, a news source reported. He expressed his views on the matter during a meeting with several representatives of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI).

During the meeting, the local business community representatives sought the development of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Sialkot for expediting the pace of export activities. They added that BoI should consider setting up this SEZ on a priority basis as it would help pave the way for development, prosperity, and generation of employment opportunities for the local workers.
Previously, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan had directed the departments concerned to expedite the process of developing the approved SEZs in the country.

Addressing the SCCI members, Gilani stressed the need for collecting data in order to help the incumbent government in resolving issues pertaining to trade and industry.
