Lahore: Three teams have been formed by the Punjab Environmental Protection Department (EPD) to check whether industries have taken relevant anti-pollution measures and make survey reports on them, according to a news source.
This decision was made in a meeting chaired by EPD Secretary Dr Zafar Saifullah, under whom these teams will work. One team is set to focus on cement factories in Rawalpindi, DG Khan, Khushab, Jhelum, and other areas. Air and water pollution levels will be checked and it would be determined whether mitigation measures are needed here. The second team will focus on the sugar industry, and checking would be done to see whether the factories have proper waste-water processing plants installed. The third team will look at all other industries, including textile, paper, and brick kilns.
