Gujranwala: The Environment Protection Department (EPD) sealed 25 factories contributing to smog in Gujranwala, a news source reported. The department also issued notices to 148 such factories and industries.

According to sources, the authorities concerned have enforced Section 144 in the city in view of the upcoming smoggy weather. According to this measure, there would be a ban on burning plastic bags and crops residue, and violators would face strict action.
Taking action for preventing smog, the EPD has issued notices to smoke-producing factories and brick kiln owners.
EPD Deputy Director Usman Azhar said that they have also issued notices to brick kilns that have not shifted to the Zigzag technology yet. He added that if the kiln owners failed to comply, then they would be forced to seal their kilns.

Meanwhile, the public has expressed its appreciation for the government’s smog prevention measures. They requested that individuals concerned should strictly abide by the defined laws.
