Lahore: The Environment Protection Department (EPD) has begun resending warnings to the industrial units operating without taking proper measures to reduce population, according to a news source. The report quoted a source within EPD as saying that the drive had begun after smog caused trouble for the residents of Lahore two months ago.
He said that notices and warnings had been sent to all industrial units producing excessive smoke and they were instructed to introduce mitigating measures at their units within two months. The operation at the time had also resulted in the sealing of numerous industrial units, but then had been unsealed on the request of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) with the promise that they would follow environmental rules and regulations within the next two months.
