Lahore: The Punjab government’s first payment aggregator ‘ePay Punjab’ has reported the accumulation of PKR 1 billion in tax revenue since its public debut on October 4, 2019, a news source reported. As per the publication, ePay Punjab was launched with the collaboration of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Finance Department.

These findings were revealed during a review meeting presided by PITB Chairman Afzal Manzoor on Thursday. Information Technology (IT) Operations Director-General Faisal Yousaf and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.

Reportedly, ePay Punjab was launched to provide the masses with an efficient system to pay their taxes through banks without having to go through the old procedure. The review meeting was briefed that various other payment methods, including Mobile Wallets, Debit/Credit Card, and TELCO Agent Networks, would soon be added to the application to facilitate taxpayers.

The authorities concerned are also planning to include Government to Business (G2B) and Government to Public (G2P) payment models in order to widen the programme’s scope. They also intend to include Tax/Non-Tax receipt options, such as Agriculture Income Tax, Domicile, Character Certificate, e-Challan, Driving License Fee, Fitness Certificate for Commercial Vehicles, and Online Admission for Schools/Colleges Fee, to the interface.
