Hyderabad: The staff from the department of the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has launched an operation against the buyers and sellers of substandard polythene plastic bags, according to news sources.

As per the reports, the Regional Incharge of the Environment department led a police task force to the Tower Market and surrounding areas, and extracted a huge quantity of pollution causing, non-degradable plastic bags, from the shops of retailers and wholesalers.

The source also reported that the retailers in the area removed these substandard bags from their establishments, upon learning of this operation. The task force distributed the official notification pamphlets highlighting the ban on plastic bags enforced by the Sindh government. The department is yet to make any arrests in this regard, but is strict about upholding the ban.
