Responding to the notice, the kiln owners have raised their financial concerns, claiming that they don’t have the required amount to do so.
To help kiln owner convert their units to Zigzag Technology, Punjab Environment Secretary has approached the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The SBP Governor has received official request to provide loans to the kiln owners on flexible terms.
Commenting on the matter, EPA Assistant Director Ameen Baig has said that the notices have been issued to change outdated manual operations of these kilns. The Zigzag Technology has proven effective in reducing the amount of smoke released from kilns.
