Rawalpindi: The Environment Protection Agency (EPA) Punjab has created a seven-member committee to evaluate the development projects in the province, according to news published on September 27.

As per the details, the committee is formed to examine the projects and ensure their adherence to the environmental protection rules. It was mentioned that the said committee will review Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports for the uplift projects in the province. Also, the committee will give recommendations to the EPA Punjab Director General for making final decisions.

Reportedly, the said body will examine the sites of the project and suggest improvements. The members of the committee include Prof Dr Arifa Tahir of Lahore College for Women University, Prof Dr Iftikhar Ahmed from National College of Business Administration and Economics, Prof Dr Mohammad Nawaz Ch of Lahore School of Economics, Dr Rab Nawaz of the University of Lahore, Chief Engineer Rawalpindi Dr Habibul Haq Randhawa, Assistant Director EPA Lahore Development Authority, and member of the review group for Development of International Water Quality Guidelines Prof Dr Mahmood Khalid Qamar.
