Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) from interested firms for the construction of multi-storey Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) apartments in LDA City, according to a major publication. To this effect, the interested parties have been requested to submit their proposals to the Office of Chief Engineer-LDA latest by July 15.

As per details, LDA intends to develop apartments in Lahore to provide 50,000 housing units for LDA employees, other public departments and the general public under the NPHP initiative. The land for this purpose has already been identified in LDA City housing scheme. It spans over 2,000 kanals that will be utilised for the construction of as many as 10,000 housing units in two years. Infrastructure for the LDA City apartments will include roads, walkways, sewerage, drainage, water, electrification, and landscaping among others.

The eligibility criteria for firms include a license from Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) in relevant manufacture, supply, construction, design, survey, plumbing and electrical works. The applying firms should not be blacklisted by any national or international firm. Any foreign bidders will have to bid in a joint venture with a national firm and obtain an appropriate license (as per PEC by-laws).
