Karachi: Sindh Information, Archives, & Labour Minister Saeed Ghani has called for the transparent allotment of houses and flats to workers and labourers in the province, a news source reported. As per the publication, he made this statement on Friday while chairing a meeting of the Worker Welfare Board (WWB).

Ghani directed the board to utilise all its available resources to allot the 4,242 houses and flats constructed in Sindh for workers and labourers. He added that they should also develop a policy for the immediate provision of assistance to these individuals in regards to marriage, death, scholarships, and other grants.
Officials concerned briefed Ghani regarding the houses, flats and colonies that have been leased in the province, under the jurisdiction of the WWB. They informed the ministers that the following number of flats and houses were ready for allotment:
- 512 in Kotri
- 192 in Nooriabad
- 1024 in Sukkur
- 96 in Larkana
- 512 in Shaheed Benazirabad
- 74 in Jacababad
- 100 in Ranipur

The officials informed the minister that a total of 4,242 houses and flats, including those in other districts, were ready for allocation. They added that the authorities concerned had also issued a work order for the construction of 1,500 flats in Kotri, while work was underway on three other colonies.
Ghani directed the relevant departments to quickly process the allotment requests from workers regarding these houses and flats. He added that the departments should complete the allotment process without any further delays.

The minister also instructed the Labour Secretary Abdul Rasheed Solangi to inspect all labour colonies and schools under the WWB. In addition, he directed Solangi to submit a report in this regard; one which included suggestions for improvements.
