Lahore: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Muhammad Waqas Nazeer has directed that implementation of tenancy laws should be ensured, according to a news report. He said that special teams should be formed to discourage criminals and to gather data of private and home domestic workers.
During this year, 269,250 tenants were registered in relevant police stations. To ensure the implementation of tenancy laws, action was taken against 8,255 recorded criminals. He instructed the officials to ensure data gathering of all domestic workers and tenants in different houses.
Tenant are required to submit the tenancy agreement and have them registered at their relevant police stations under the Information of Temporary Residents Act. All the provinces (known in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as Restrictions of Rented Buildings (Security) Act) had introduced tenancy laws giving special powers to police and obligating the tenants and/or landlords to report any temporary residence.
