Karachi: The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) on Wednesday said it had demolished 90% of the encroachments in the metropolis – a news source reported.
KDA Director General Samiuddin Siddique said that the civic body carried out an indiscriminate operation against encroachers. He added that KDA had insufficient funds and little machinery, but it completed the task.

He said that the enforcement wing would not succumb to pressure. The operation would continue till the removal of all illegal structures. The officials would will ensure that no encroachment reappears.
Meanwhile, the estate and enforcement department’s squad razed over 300 shops and warehouses. These were built on drainage lines in Korangi 5½ area.
The operation was carried out in collaboration with the law enforcement agencies. Estate and Enforcement Director Dildar Shah said that teams will carry out similar operations against illegal occupants.
