Lahore: The encroachments that had been cleared on several roads of Gulberg in the provincial capital have begun reappearing, a news source reported. The district administration and Lahore Metropolitan Corporation had cleared encroachments on Nicholson Road and Empress Road, among other areas of Gulberg.
An anti-encroachment camp had also been established on Nicholson Road but it has now been converted into a motorcycle parking. The roads have filled up again with hawkers on carts selling warm clothes and shoes causing issues for traffic and pedestrians.
Anti-encroachment operations have been conducted throughout Punjab and a large amount of government land has been retrieved and repossessed. In Lahore, apart from Gulberg, an operation was also conducted in Anarkali, Johar Town, Sabzazar, Urdu Bazar, Canal Park, PIA Road, Lohari Medicine Market, Madina Market, Shah Alam Market, and Ciricular Garden, among other places.
Operations have also been conducted in Multan, Sargodha, Kasur, Nankana Sahab, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Faisalabad, among other cities.
