Islamabad: The Ministry of Housing has decided to launch an anti-encroachment operation against unauthorized intrusion housing units provided to the federal government employees in all Islamabad sectors, according to news published on December 28.

As per a report submitted by the Ministry of Housing, there are some 17,500 federal government-owned apartments in the city, of which, 5,000 units have been illegally inhabited and encroached upon by employees. The said report highlighted that the encroachments include; extra rooms, boundary walls and courtyards to expand the housing units.

Moreover, it was revealed that the official houses of the estate office under the federal housing ministry have also been heavily encroached upon. The federal employees have executed construction on courtyards and rooftops that are against the regulations.
