Karachi: Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) has a planned a grand operation similar to the Empress Market operation around Karachi Zoo as well, a news source reported. The 400 shops surrounding the zoo will be considered encroachments and will be demolished.
According to details, after the successful completion of operations around Empress Market, now it has been decided to conduct a similar operation in Landa Bazar (Lighthouse) located on MA Jinnah Road and Karachi Zoo located on Nishtar Road. The shops, houses, and offices in the surrounding areas will be demolished.
According to KMC sources, the construction of these shops and the offices and residences above them was done on public land. After demolishing the encroachments, a grill will be installed around the area. After the encroachments have been removed, people will be able to see animals from their cars outside.
An operation will also be conducted against the shops inside Empress Market and after the 200 shops are removed, an art gallery will be established there.
