Lahore: The authorities have decided to shift electricity transmission and distribution lines over all the major roads in the provincial capital underground, a news source reported.
The lines on Mall Road, Jail Road, and Canal Road, among others, will be shifted underground and Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has initiated the execution of the project. LESCO will transfer its 132 Kilovolts (KV) and 11 KV lines underground.

Initially, the lines will be transferred on Mall Road, Jail Road, and Canal Road. Afterwards, the same will be done for transmission lines on Ferozepur Road, MM Alam Road, and Main Boulevard Gulberg.

According to the Planning & Construction department of LESCO, the project has been on the cards for quite a while and now the work on it has begun. It will be completed with assistance from Asian Development Bank.
